About Me

I grew up in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina, where I fell in love with reading and the way the leaves change every October. I received my BA in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Go Heels! Now, I live in Durham with my husband and our daughter and hound dog, the bringers of both joy and chaos.

I write stories about Black girls with complicated families and mental health struggles finding joy, love, and hope in dark places. I write the stories I needed to read at seventeen.

Fun facts I have at the ready: I’m just as likely to be listening to early ’00s Sean Paul, Nelly, and Ciara as I am Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, and the Band CAMINO. I swear by Tillamook’s Dark Chocolate Cookies & Cream ice cream. When I’m not writing, I’m likely trying to figure out another crafty project I convinced myself I could do, no problem.
